HEY LA! what are YOU doing tomorrow night?
On Tuesday December 6, 2011, 7:30 PM at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, the superstars of the Los Angeles dance community will join forces to present a dance concert, to benefit the family of dancer Richard “Steelo” Vazquez. Steelo, a leading member of The Groovaloos, Killafornia, and Footwork Fanatix, who has worked with Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and Gwen Stefani, among others – suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on June 19 of this year, and three subsequent ruptures while in recovery. He has lost the ability to walk and speak and is in the process of rehabilitation now. The local dance community has rallied together to stage this concert as a benefit for Steelo, his wife Penelope and their one-year old son Elijah. The net proceeds from ticket sales will be used to underwrite living expenses for Steelo and his family over the next year, during his rehabilitation.
The dance concert will feature an unprecedented line-up of the top dance crews in the nation: JABBAWOCKEEZ (winners of MTV’s Amercia’s Best Dance Crew Season 1 and currently have a Las Vegas show at the Monte Carlo); TEAM iLUMINATE (finalists on America’s Got Talent season 6); BEAT FREAKS (finalists on ABDC season 3 and appearances on “Honey 2” & “Shake It Up”); SUPER CR3W (winners of ABDC season 2 who currently perform with the Jabbawockeez Las Vegas show at the Monte Carlo); THE GROOVALOOS (Winner’s of NBC’s Superstars of Dance, off-Broadway hit GROOVALOO, Ellen, Jimmy Fallon Show, Wayne Brady); THE LXD (web series directed and produced by Jon Chu of Step Up II and Step Up 3D) and KILLAFORNIA (International award winning bboy crew lead by Steelo Vazquez). The evening will be hosted by comedians Anjelah Johnson (series regular on MadTV & starred in “Our Family Wedding”) and Affion Crockett (Fox’s “In The Flow with Affion Crockett”, “Dance Flick,” & “Soul Men,”).
SPECIAL GUEST: Comedian WAYNE BRADY.
The event will be directed by award winning choreographer and Groovaloos founder, BRADLEY RAPIER.
